im about to be a proud owner of a vostro 1500(T5470, 2gb RAM, 120gb HD, 256mb 8600m GT, DVD-RW). i paid $850 before taxes, which is a pretty good deal. my question is, do you guys use the dell driver or the nvidia driver? if you use nvidias driver, which revision? also, any known issues with newer games and this card? thanks! i cant wait for this baby to arrive at my front door!!

I was using the laptovideo2go.com driver and INF. But, I started getting weird resets to 800x600 on resume and login.

So, I reverted to Dell's stock driver, and my problems went away. My 3DMark05 performance also dropped 900 points.

But, the laptop is more usable now, and I can still overclock to compensate, when I need to.

    YMMV

I know my Laptop is not covered here, but I saw this thread whilst looking for something else.

I have had a HP dv9521ei {T7300, 2 Gb RAM, 2 x 160 Gb HDD and 8600 GT M} for two weeks now, and tried to install the Vista driver for the 8xxx from nVidia - the come back from my lappie was that my hardware was not supported by the nVidia driver. Subsequently I hade done some research and it would seem that one has to use the drivers supplied by the laptop vendors for the GeForce 8xxx adapters.

Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

Sounds to me like you weren't using the modded .inf file to install the driver. If you use laptopvideo2go.com's drivers, you must make sure you ALWAYS use the modded .inf file. If you don't you will get the "hardware not supported" error.

I have tried a number of laptopvideo2go's drivers but the one that works the best for me is v163.44. Gives me a decent 3000+ 3DMark06 score.

Many Thanks steveeb, I did not know about this site. I used it to install the 163.67. The results were great.

Medal of Honor Airborne looks great now.

Was 167.26, updated to 169.04 a few days ago. No issues with either card on CS:S and NFS :pS demo (sorry there is nothing else but I'm trying not to play games much until exams are over). you should have a very good excuse for still using the Dell drivers if you want the most of your system, especially from a software level.
