I can get a fully loaded black XPS for $2600, I was wondering if you can turn all the lights and stuff off because I think they are really stupid, but I do like how powerful it is, and the deal I can get on it is insane...

Yes you can turn off all of the lights. I know someone who has the M170, the older one, and they have all the lights turned off. I'm sure it is the same for the M1710. Nice price btw. How'd you get it so low?

Thanks, I just read a review on AnandTech and you can turn them off on the M1710 also, so I might just consider this, espically since they were able to get 2.5 hours watching a Divx movie, so You should be able to get 3 hours of just typing with power saving settings on, does anyone have expirience with battery life on this system?

Well, I have a 30% off cupon for any system plus I get 12% off for EPP, and then I get a $200 mail in rebate... so thats a $4,666 system for $2600, and thats with a 2.16GHz core duo, 2GB, 512MB 7900GTX, 100GB 7200RPM, wifi+BT, DVD-RW DL, 4 year warentee, MCE+TV tuner and remote, basically every option except for the red color and 4GB of RAM (which is like another $2k)

You can and it's really easy. All you need is the Dell QuickSet application which is included in all the things you get with your XPS. Simply go in the "Gaming" menu and you'll find all the LED controllers.
