    tv tuner question

    The tv tuner that comes with the 6400 does it work in other country, like japan?

    In the US, standard TV uses NTSC encoding whereas other countries (like in Europe) use PAL. The two formats are not compatible (an NTSC-only tuner cannot use PAL and vise versa), and you'll have to look at that specific TV Tuner and make sure it supports the encoding used in Japan. Tuners can and often do support multiple encoding techniques and are advertised as such. For instance, mine supports NTSC, PAL, and ATSC.

    You'll probably have to call a Japanese cable operator to find out what they use.

    thanks for quick reply. i am pretty sure japan uses nstc but I guess I will just see when I go there if it works or not.
