    Hi,

I;ve recently purchased the new dell inspiron 1720, which is little more than a glorified netbook.
The graphics are terrible. and i was wondering if i can uppgrade my graphics card. (Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. 780 mb)

    Any advice greatly appreciated

Better sell it off and buy a configuration with dedicated graphics.

I don't believe you can, unless you replace the motherboard.

you can buy the motherboard with discrete graphics from ebay, but you will probably have to buy a new heatsink as well. It is not that difficult to install but probably is the only way.

Sometimes complaining to Dell about it will work. Is there a specific video problem you're having? Problems with games or video quality? Try taking the problem to technical support and explaining your situation and why you think a different video card would help. They might replace it with discrete graphics in such cases to resolve the issue.
