Hi all,
I have a Dell Dimension desktop from a few years back, and the process of adding RAM to it was a serious pain in the ass. Eventually I had to cave in and go through Crucial. Are Inspirons as finicky?

While I appreciate the heads up, I was referring to compatibility. Sorry for not making that clear.

Okay, more specifically - would this stick work in a Dell laptop (e.g. the 1520)?
In the past I bought and returned three sets of RAM from Fry's, all of the appropriate spec, because they weren't compatible with my Dimension desktop. I'd like to avoid that headache this time around. -
I would go with 5300 instead of the 5400 you selected which I do not think is compatible

You can almost always use faster rated RAM in a slower slot, but not slower RAM in a faster slot, so that stick should work. i'd use the crucial.com memeory selector to see the recomended specs for the laptop, then search off that.
