i have a dell 700m laptop. few yeas old.
only 2 usb ports psmcia card and cdrom and wireless card.

what is there to upgrade on that laptop?

can i upgrade a wireless card to a WiFi+ bluetooth? will it work with this model?
is there a battery that i can put instead of cdrom?

or a harddrive instead of cdrom?

i don't really understand your question...most 700ms that i know of have wifi built in. if you want bluetooth, buy a bluetooth dongle- i don't know of any way to put it inside the system.

i don't believe you can switch out the cd-rom drive with a battery, but maybe an extra hard drive. but why go through all this effort when buying an external usb hard drive is so cheap nowadays?

You can definitely upgrade the wireless card on the 700m, but the best thing you can get is the Intel 2915ABG. No 3000 or 4000 cards. I do not believe there is an option for an internal BT module.

You may be able to replace the optical drive with a second hard drive given the proper adapters, but I think it'd be easier just to upgrade your original hard drive. To that extent, you can also upgrade your processor and memory if you have not done so already.

well like i said on another board
a portable laptop stops beeing portable after you add all the external crap dn have all that hangin off the sides.

having a backpack of acessories is not really my idea of portable.

    heres what i found online
mini pci slot: wifi+bluetooth card or a gps card
pcmcia: sound card, multi card reader,wifi,5gb solid state hard drive, usb port, pcmcia bluetooth mouse.
cd rom drive:battery, JAE 50(laptop cdrom) adapter to mini IDE(laptop harddrive)

the #1 reason is because the 700 has only 2 usb ports.
i heard that theres another unused usb port on the motherboard but lost the page.
i already use 1 usb port for the mouse and another to plug in a thumb drive.

im trying to add functionality without having any limbs hangin off the laptop. because its as it should be portable, its not a "desktop replacement"

i just bought it for 215 and i was looking for exactly that size laptop.
