    i have a inspiron 1720 laptop and was wondering if i could upgrade the video card? i know it not soddered to anything just a few screws holding the video card in place. would my system support the new graphics card?

    Yes, you can. Up to propriatary designed 8600M GT DDR2 from Dell is the maximum you can get if you have an 8400M GS GPU. However if you have an X3100 integrated GPU, you'll have the change the entire motherboard designed for the available 8400M GS and 8600M GT slots.

    You can mod other stuff like RAM to 6GB, X9000 processor and etc. Graphic card is the thing that bottlenecks the otherwise great system.
