i supposed to get it (e1505) since jan 2nd but nothing showed up and the progress on UPS tracking website stopped since jan 2nd said its out for delivery. i can only assume that is lost or stolen. called dell and all i got is this indian guy repeating the information i see on ups website and ups is even less helpful said will contact back and nothing. long story short they want me to wait longer. now i cant do anything coz its weekend but im going crazy. its all just incredible. im going away in jan 13th and i need that laptop before that. i thought i spare enough time. agrrrrr!! guess im just not gonna get it. anyone had this experience? how long will they make you wait until they just admit they screwed up and what are my options?
thanks guy!

Exact same thing happened to me this summer, something is very rotten at UPS. Check out the thread about the Latitude D420 they lost of mine:

It really, really sucks when this happens but based on my experience Dell was good in reissuing another order, I can't stand UPS now though. -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I've had issues with ups, fedex, and dhl last year. UPS drivers are too "busy" to get signitures anymore, and they just leave my packages, even very expensive ones with signiture required at my door, in a cheap apartment building in a less than desirable area of town. Once the driver forged my sig and left it at the door, it was gone by the time I got home, and with it being signed by the driver it was very difficult to get taken care of, since then half the time my packages track saying out for delivery, only never to show up that day and at night post that no one was there to accept the package, where several times I either took off from work or paid someone to wait on it for me when I knew it would be in the area, now I try and pick it up myself whenever possible
Fedex did one better than that to me, I had an order of live marine fish and live corals overnighted to me, about $600 worth, and the driver I suppose was too tired to go all the way up my hill, and "dropped" it off at the door of an even less desirable apartment building than mine , and of course it was gone when the driver finally told me where she left it, and the crackheads there "never saw no truck nowhere, they done tode ya wrong" I found the box the next day in a ditch a block away, opened and the bags contents emptied into the box, long dead and frozen as it was the middle of winter
and finally DHL, they wont even leave my package at the door, they leave them on top of a community mailbox, thats why it took dell 3 shipments for me to finally get my software cd's
long story short, I dont feel comfotable with any of them anymore -
Funny, because when Crucial, under warranty, replaced my 2x512MB Ballistix DDR500 memory modules, UPS shipped them from England to me in less than 16hrs.
That was the time it took when I was emailed the tracking number to the time I recieved the package straight at my doorstep (in a block of flats). Gave my sig, of course. Thats what I call serviceThe tracking number was rather useful, describing the arrivals and departures to and from their warehouses etc.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I think it has a lot to do with the local area, where I used to work, we dealt with ups multiple times daily, and all in all it was a good relationship, at home though, its a completely different story for me

im going to thailand and wont be back til summer. i intended to bought this laptop so that i can bring it with me on this trip and the delay definitely screwed that up but i seriously doubt that they will send it all the way over there. cant belive this is happenning. just incredible. really.

Well... you've got until the end of the week.. Think positively... I'm sure it will work out well.
Have you considered having a family member ship it to you? I'm not sure if you're going to have to pay customs duties or anything bringing it back, but 6 months without a computer would really suck. -
My shipping advice is have it sent to your work if possible or call in and pick it up at the UPS distribution center. I learned that lesson the hard way.

talked to dell....they wont get it in time. so i wont have a laptop to use. dunno what im gonna do. im just unbelivably pissed and upset. this just sucks.
but thanks for all the comments guys. -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I bet if you raised a big enough stink, they would credit you the amount of having your family ship it to you when it arrives if that would be an option, they credited my card 200 bucks just over a problem with getting the vista upgrade code to work, I would find a carrier and the cost of shipping, then call back and demand to speak to a CS manager and demand at least that amount, or a total imediate refund, so you can at least buy a machine at the store before you leave
good luck -
Cancel the order and buy an Asus!!!
ups lost my laptop
