I have an e1505 with an x1300, I'm discussing a deal with someone that has an x1400 in an e1705 and is planning on upgrading to an nivida card, I'm assuming they use the same x1400 in both models, does anyone know for sure if they are the same? thanks

NO!!! They are not the same!!

The x1300 that comes with the E1505/6400 is 64MB card. The x1400 is 128MB.

Also the ATI x1400 that comes with the 31705/9400 is 256mb and of course the NVIDIA is 256MB as well

i accidently forgot to mention something. The Nvidia 256MB with hypermemory that you can purchase with the 1705/9400 allocates memory differently. 128 mb are dedicated to video while the remaining 128 mb are shared.

I'm pretty sure he was asking if the x1400 used in the 9400 was the same as the x1400 used in the 6400, not whether the x1400 and x1300 were the same. If he believed that, he wouldn't be wanting to upgrade. And AFAIK, the x1400 used in the 9400 is the same as used in the 6400. They're pretty standard across the board. I don't see any reason why they would be different. That wouldn't make good business sense.

well ,i happen to work for dell and know for sure they are not the same. The x1400 with the 1705 comes with hypermemory that allows 128 mb to video and 128 shared. the x1400 with the 1505 only has 128 and its shared memory

the x1400 for ethe 1505 has 128 meg dedicated memory,128 shared the x1300 has 64 meg dedicated, 192 shared, bottom line, I want to put an x1400 from an e1705/i9400 into an e1505/i6400, spose I'll find out when I get it

He's not asking about the specifications--he wants to know if the physical form factor is the same; probably to switch out the slower x1300 for the better x1400. That is possible to do. The x1400 in the e1505 has 128 dedicated and up to 128 additional shared making 256 total. If you work for dell I hope that you are still in training or something. =/
