i have my eyes set on the vostro 1400, just woundering would buying the 3year compelete care service be a good idea. I Belive a vostro is a tougher version of the insprion sinces its cased completely in mag-alloy. but since ill be using this in university i have to do a lot of carrying around and accidents happen. is the vostro well protected agains spills and drops? if it is then i can simply down grade my care package to 3 year hardware service and save myself 200 dollars. any ideas?

another question is how the completecare works. does it cover damages even if its my own fault? would it get serviced or replaced even if i throw it out of the CN tower?

Just make sure that it applies to your state/country:
U.S. info
U.K. Info
Australian info
Or whatever country you're in.
If you're unsure whether to get a long warranty, you can get a short one then extend it (before it expires) if you decide you're still going to use the laptop for a while yet. It'll cost more to extend than to buy several years upfront.
Personally I don't want any more than 2 years on my Vostro 1400, but not sure if I'll need more than 1 year. So I'm going the 1 year and will keep an extension in mind.
