    All,

Ok... due to clumsy me (I dropped a keyboard screw in my new vostro 1500 when upgrading the ram. Stupid location for the 2nd simm btw) I ended up disassembling my Vostro 1500 to remove a screw and put it back together.

All is well, I used the service manual procedures and im comfortable with the work... except... I have a nagging question.

There is a cable that runs from the little bluetooth card and plugs into the mother board on the right side of the machine. This cable was held in place by a little paperboard looking piece about 1/2 way along its route.

Well... now my question... I cant remember if i slipped the cable back into that paperboard piece... is that critical? wondering if it was suspended there for a reason.

Really not sure if i did it or not... and not thrilled with doing another disassembly as its perfect right now.

    Thanks In Advance

Cable routing and can be for several reasons. It is near a hot part or might obstuct airflow or cause/receive interference etc... etc... Odds are really good you don't have to worry about it. If you are like me and want it to be right then you will just have to check.

The 'part' is the cable between the bluetooth card and the main board. Here is a picture from dell's site that shows the the bluetooth card and where the cable (#4) starts. I havent found a picture of the other end of the cable.

    Thanks

I doubt it will cause you any problems. It's nowhere near a fan or heatsink, so it won't be obstructing any airflow. You said yourself that everything is perfect at the moment, so it's probably not causing or receiving any interference either. I wouldn't worry about it unless you start having problems with the computer.

It's just to stop the cable flapping around. shouldn't cause any problems.
