I am thinking about getting the vostro 1500 but I have seen tons and tons of posts talking about grainy screens and back light problems(which I know nothing about).
Out of these four screens, which one would give me the best certainty that I will not get a grainy screen. If there is anything about a laptop that I would want to have right, it is the screen since I do a lot of media things with my computers. Also, please note the back lighting issues.
Sorry if this question has been posted more than you guys can handle but I was getting mixed responses from a lot of the threads I was reading.
Thanks in advanced![]()

From what I have read, there are few complaints from people getting the WSXGA. Most of these seem to be LG screens, although I have read of some people having a Samsung WSXGA+. Very few complaints about the LG WSXGA...which is what I have. It is a very good display.

Get the WSXGA+ (1,680 * 1,050)...that's the best screen with no graininess. People who are having some problems are the ones that got lower res. screens.

WSXGA+ = Widescreen Super eXtended Graphics Array = 1680x1050 -
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. It's a bummer that you have to pay $100+ just to get a screen with no graininess.
If anyone has anymore comments, by all means please go right ahead. -
i've got a lower res 1280*800 screen and have no grains whatsoever, or at least i don't seem to notice any
-
Yes I agree the lower 1280 x 800 should be good as well.. its the 1440 x 900 that will get ya.

Y'know, just because it happened to you, doesn't mean it's helpful to him. -
i have the sec3157.
i dont think im lucky. you have to remember, people only come to these forums when something is wrong with their laptop. no one says anything when its just fine. -
The grains have nothing to do with the resolution. It has to do with which manufacturer you get. Don't buy a laptop with a resolution you didn't want in the hopes that you won't receive a grainy screen. Buy the model you want - and if you get grains, be prepared to exchange it and you'll be fine.
