I'm looking at getting a Vostro 1500 with the 8600GT in it. What kind of battery life could I expect with a 6 cell battery? With a 9 cell battery? Is the 9 cell battery + 8600GT going to turn the laptop into a heavy to carry tank?

From what i've heard, its about 2 to 2.5 hours with the 6 cell if you turn things like wireless off and stuff. The 9 cell will get you almost 3 hours with everything running so probably around 4 with things turned off. The 9 cell does stick out of the back but the weight difference is only .2 or .3 pounds.

I'm trying to decide whether to make this a gaming laptop or go cheaper on it and maybe get a new desktop in a year or so. 2.5 hours with wireless off is not that impressive to me.

How good is the 1500 battery life with an intel X3100? We ought to compile the stats somewhere...
