    vostro hassles

    When I had decided that I wanted to buy a laptop for school I immediately and instinctively went straight to Dell. I've been a loyal Dell customer and they have taken care of me in the past. Before I had to go to work I cruised by the website and clicked on the first laptop that I saw which was the Vostro 1500 or 1400 I can't remember. After spending about 10 minutes customizing it; I decided to call Dell. They put me on hold for about 2 minutes after that I had heard something puzzling, an american voice. Amazing. Anyways, I told him that I wanted a Vostro 1500 with these certain specs, he then replied to me, what would you be using the computer for. I said I will be using it for school because I will be a student. He said that the vostro is a "business" type notebook, and that I shouldn't technically have one. Puzzled I asked can I still get one because this is what I want, he said that he could transfer me to the business department so they can talk to me about it. So I just said forget about it because I had to go to work. Seeing the number of Vostro owners in here I can obviously tell that I got pretty much gayed by Dell.
    Did.. anyone else have this problem when trying to order their vostro for student purposes? Or am I the only one.

    No problems here, I told them it was for personal use and they didn't mind at all. I guess with Dell if at first you don't get a CSR that gives you what you want, call back and try someone else. You're bound to get a cool person that will help you out.

    when i reordered they did give me a little hassle. i was like its personal. and they are like well you need a buisness. im like well its just for me yada yada, and hes like well for the government purposes we need a buisness name. so i made one up and he laughed and said good enough for me :)

    LOL nice. if my 1420 doesn't pan out i'll definitely get a vostro, would you recommend it?

    i ordered online and i dont recall such a problem, i dont have a company name, i just used my own name in that slot.

    Just lie and tell them you're using it for work XD... or order online. I ordered online from Small Business; no problems whatsoever.
