Hi guys.
I wanted to extend warranty of my laptop. I got two options one for one year for 150 and one, that is called:
"Maximum duration. Basic Next Day Onsite after Remote Diagnosis" and is for 270.
I was on chat with dell, trying to figure out what does it mean, and how long the warranty will be, but after 20minutes on chat, they told me that they have no idea and that i should call.
Does anyone know, what maximum duration means in terms of warranty?
Thank you very much for your reply.

I am looking at an XPS 12 laptop myself and am trying to decide between a Dell or Square Trade warranty. I was quoted around $230 for 2 years on the XPS 12 from Dell. But I've read that Dell will try to say that any claims are a result of "customer damage" which I don't want to deal with. Anyway, it appears "maximum duration" may refer to the five year extended warranty limit from the purchase date of the laptop. Basically they won't warranty the laptop any longer according to the quote below from their site. It's stated in the second paragraph.

Maximum duration means five years from the purchase date of the laptop.

Maximum Duration means 5 years from the SHIPMENT date of the laptop. (Not purchase date.)
The shipment date, if you bought it from a retailer such as BestBuy, Staples, etc, would be the date DELL shipped it to them, not the date sold.
Found this out as I upgraded my son's laptop from 1 year to Maximum. Missing out on 4 months, but no big deal - still better than a 2 year extension & I can see why DELL would not want to go by the sale date if a retailer has stock sitting around for years.
warranty option: Maximum duration, what does it mean?
