As someone who just ordered the same model I think you could've done better on the price. Read on.

Did you use any coupons such as those here: http://www.notebookreview.com/dellCoupon.asp ?

As well if you had ordered the absolute minimum on upgrade-able parts like HD, RAM, etc. and instead upgraded them later in time, you would've saved a few good dollars on the total package. For example, you could've had your RAM set to 1gb or even 521mb, whichever lowest was available. It's something like with shavers -- a shaver may be darn good and cheap, but the shaver manufacturers get you on the changeable razors that you replace often. They charge a premium because you're stuck with their proprietary product system. Same with your e1705.

yes but I dont know how to upgrade laptops, I can open up my desktop and have even built a few. So I opted to have dell put all the components in for me.

Laptop upgrading is simpler since the thing is so portable. My brother has an advanced Nokia smartphone and practically every part of it is replacable. When I say simple, I speak of the HD and the RAM. These components are upgradable for sure in e1705. As for all other parts, you should'nt really count on an easy upgrade if at all it may be possible (think motherboard!) to upgrade 'em.

There isn't much to upgrade in a laptop. Most of the components are either not available on the market or are integrated with the motherboard.

Wrong. RAM and HD are easiy upgradable. Those are the ones I'll go for a while after I get my e1705 in just a few days.
