my friend gave me the laptop to have me take a look at it. for some reason if the charger is plugged in to the laptop no matter if the battery is in or not the laptop would power up and qucikly shut back down before anything comes on screen. so that means i can't turn on and use the laptop if it is turned off and charging. the only way to get around this is to turn on the laptop with the battery and then plug in the charger. she just wants to know what is wrong with it and is it expensive to fix. i can't seem to fix it. anyone have any ideas?

Are you sure the battery is charging? It sounds like the power connector is lose and actually running on battery power.
-
actually now it doesn't even turn on with only the battery. but yes i am sure that it was charging

If you know how to solder to can buy the connector. Otherwise you are going to have to find someone who does specialize in laptop repair who can fix the power connector.

i don't think the power connector has any problems. i can charge the battery. besides the battery is fully charged already, indicated by the lights on the bottom of the battery and it won't even power up using the battery
