    hello guys..
    i brought Dell studio 3 months back.
    there is a HDMI port on the left side..
    I dont know for what is can be used.
    somebody told me i can attach tv to my laptop.
    but im still not sure about it.
    how we can attach a tv with it?
    what cable we can use..
    its a newbie question... i hope you guyz ll answer me kindly..

    a HD ready Television is needed with a HDMI slot / DVI slot.
    A HDMI cable is needed to connect laptop to the TV.
    An DVI adaptor may be required on one end of the HDMI cable to connect in this way

    TV -> DVI -> HDMI cable -> laptop
    OR
    TV -> HDMI cable -> Laptop

    It is basically just like having a external monitor with the well known VGA slot.

    TonyZ sums it up nicely. If you have an HDTV, you can plug it into this port and use it as an external display. The ends of the cable will look like this:
