    Hi

I have a dell vostro 1710 but I no longer have the original hard drive or the sata cable it came with. Just the tray. and no screws to screw the hard drive into the tray.

what sata cable would fit for dell vostro 1710 laptop? + what hdd screws?

    i'm in the uk.

I checked ebay.co.uk but only see US sellers I can search specifically for dell vostro and I see one sata cable for dell vostro 1710 , for $17+$10 postage.. it looks slim but it seems a bit pricey for what is - essentially just a sata cable , not ideal if it has to ship all the way from the US, and I wonder if with a bit of know-how I can get an alternative one that fits just as good and is available in the UK. I see stuff on ebay.co.uk but i'm not sure which SATA Cable (if any others), would fit fine.. Also, i'd like to know what hdd screws to get.. Like I recall desktop cdrom drives use a screw size of 4-40 and computer cases use a screwsize of 6-32. i'm not sure what screw size hard drives, particularly 2.5" hard drives use, to screw them into a hard drive tray.

    Thanks

Whatever screws you can get to screw hard drives into any computer should work as long as they flush mount. As for the cable, ebay should pull that off easy...just look up the model number of the computer and you should be good to go.
