I have an Inspiron 9300 with the GeForce Go 6800 and want to get an external monitor to use with it. What are the guidelines for knowing what size monitors will work? Does the monitor need to have a certain native resolution?

    Thanks for the help.

Connecting via a VGA port? - It can handle up to 2048x1536, doesn't matter what.
Connecting via DVI? - 1920x1200 is your max, again doesn't matter what in that range.

The 9300 has DVI, VGA, and S-Video out, correct? I just sold my i9300 to make way for the Vostro1700 I just ordered. I want to use the Vostro 1700 with an external display, but it only has VGA out. Sucks!

Anyways, using the DVI you should be able to use a 24" with 1920x1200 resolution. Just don't plan on using a 30", haha.
