I am looking to replace my puny 80Gb drive for the new 200Gb Hitachi drive but I don't know if the connector is the same.

the 200Gb drive connector is SATA. I know there are several notebook connector types so what does dell use? I got the 1705 july of last year.

If it is the E1705, then it uses an SATA hard drive according to Dell.

It is SATA, I can tell from the type of processor and chipset that you have.
