    Hey inspiron owners, you know that little slot on the left? what is it for? mine came very loose, even when i take it out, something internal keeps shakin', just wondering if i'm the only one.

    nothing too much to worry about though, compared the huge crack that runs across my whole LG lcd screen =). yeah, getting the nightmare replaced.

    its called an express card slot, and you can add a card that can add various features to your computer such as more usb ports/firewire ports, sound card, and maybe in the future external graphics cards.

    The Vostro 1500/Insprion 1520(i assume you are talking about this model) has an express card on the left as nizzy mentioned.Expresscard replaces PCMICA.

    Other uses for the expesscard slot are:
