As far as I know it activates the use of some build-in audio chip.

    the creative software

the creative audigy software consists of:
    1) creative audio center (equilizer,eax settings,vol control,settings for 2.1,5.1,7.1)
    2) creative media source player
    3) creative wave editor

laptop speakers are crap unless you buy something very high end...we have 2 lappys at my house so from experience i just went with the simplest option. you can always use programs like DFX
i think that the audigy is a program to manage sound with a bit more 'advanced' methods

ok. sound blaster software lets your CPU do EAX work...that's the game enviornment sound system thingie...like let's say you are in a tunnel, the the sound echoes.

the Inspiron 1520/ Vostro 1500 has S/PDIF out.

you need a special adapter from dell to hook into your s-video jack (which has extra pins for sound and component HD video)

10-band equalizer and speaker settings, bass boost. Grab some $40+ Sennheiser headphones and you'll see the difference between the crappy SigmaTel drivers and the Audigy software. Not as good as a physical audigy/x-fi card, but it's worth it for 20 bucks.

i regret buying it, it doesn't really let me open EAX 2.0 or even 1.0 in games

in FEAR the EAX2.0 and EAX Advanced HD both are greyed out options that you can't turn on.

The EAX effects you can add to your mp3 playback is no more than just another EQ, the echos wear off its interesting effects on you after a while.

EAX option isn't accurate in bf2

I can turn it on with motherboard audio

the X-Fi option in bf2 is fake as well since the sigma audio dell provided has nothing to do with it

^ did you down size your resolution to get 3874 3dmark 06?
