I've been trying to use a PS2 wheelmouse on an Inspiron 5000 running XP.
The mouse works fine, as a 3-button mouse. Doesn't recognise the wheel.
I've tried two different wheel mice with the same result.

The wheel works on my desktop PC. And if I use a USB/PS2 connector, the Inspiron does recognise the wheel.

I tried the manufacturer's drivers (Logitech), but these didn't see the wheel either.

I would really prefer to use the PS2 port, as there is only one USB port I use for other things.

    Any hints?

OK -- solution: changed the boot option to disable touchpad if a mouse is connected. Now a PS/2 mouse works, including wheel.
