    Hi All,

    I have recently got changed motherboard of my Dell Inspiron 1525 due to LAN card problem. After some days I have noticed that when I press dell media direct button first Vista O/S gets started and then Media direct. In fact by operation through media direct button it should start media direct only without booting Vista O/S.[Booting Screen Procedure- Dell Inspiron Bios screen, Dell media direct booting screen with text appearing on top is GRUB loading stage 2, Vista & Linux O/S choose option(visa is set by default , Vista desktop, Dell Media direct starts] I have once updated the media direct application by using built in check update option.

    The company has provided one EISA Configuration partition (47 MB), Vista O/S partition (Around 140 GB to 150 GB), Dell media direct partition (2.01 GB).
    further I have reinstalled 2 O/S, they are Windows Vista Ultimate & Red hat enterprise Linux 0.5. I have changed the size of partition by using dell media direct application
    disk & they are EISA,C: Vista NTFS 120 GB,D: NTFS 10 GB,Swap 3 GB, Linux Ext3 11 GB, Dell Media direct 2 GB.

    I want to know, what should I do to make Media direct option work directly without opening vista, by pressing Media Direct button.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    (sorry for my english)
    I've the same problem,

    I had 4 partitions:
    • Dell Utility
    • Vista NTFS
    • W95 Extended LBA (propably for Dell Media Direct)
    • DellMedia Direct - type "dd"

    I want to install Gentoo, so first i change Vista NTFS partition from about 300 Gb to 240 Gb with ntfsresize. Next, with fdisk, I erase partition 3 (in the same time, partition 4 diseapeared), I create one extended partition for linux, and one primary partition instead of Dell Media Direct (dd) partition (at the same start&end blocks).

    Now i have 7 partitons:
    /sda1 -> Dell Utility
    /sda2 -> Vista NTFS
    /sda3 -> Extended
    /sda4 -> Dell Media Direct (dd)
    /sda5 -> / Linux
    /sda6 -> swap
    /sda7 -> /boot Linux

    And now, when I tried to boot only Dell Media Direct (with special button), it starts but first start Vista.

    Can you help me? What should i do, that Dell Media direct start without Vista OS.

    Thank you, and please help.
