when will del ship latitudes witn merom?

i'm about to sell my e1505 (it's just too bulky) to buy a latitude D620.
i was wondering if anyone could guess (i'm not expecting people to be positive) but just maybe be able to make an educated guess about the D620 coming with merom.
i could install it myself, but that's hassle, and you can hardly sell a laptop CPU on ebay easily.
any ideas?
i'm leaving on a trip to Spain the 10th August. I'd like to buy it before then (i know, it's highly unlikely it'll have merom by then) but if i miss then, i may as well wait a little longer to get merom

I think it is unlikely by August.

 

I highly doubt it will be available by August 10th. The August launch for the Merom will most likely be a paper launch; actual notebooks with it will probably not ship until ~September.

 

Knowing dell it will probably be November. They just updated their laptops, so even when merom is released, it will take a while to update their current systems. Plus get a good amount of chips from Intel to sell.

 

ok, i suppose i could wait until sept. if Dell had them for sale (as i don't see any other laptops that fit what i want). check here for what kinda laptop i'm looking for.

i have heard that Dell is gonna start selling AMD CPU's just cause they haven't been guaranteed enough stock (Lenovo and Apple get first dibbs)
if this is true, they might not have enough to give the D620 one straight away)
basically, i'm willing to wait a little, but the last thing i want to do it end up having to by my laptop in sept/oct with just a core duo (cause they don't sell it with merom yet)
i may as well buy it now if that's the case

Guess, the best thing to do is just to wait it out until August and see what happens. None of us have any idea of when Dell will do the upgrade, so we really can't tell you that it will be out by a certain date.

If it isn't upgraded by mid August, then you should probably have a back up laptop to get instead.

 

i guess my point is, if it won't be out, i may aswell get that "backup laptop" now

 

I talked to Intel rep about it two weeks ago. Her estimation was October-November.
