Trust me, that XPS 1210 is pretty tough, go with the dell, its much better than the Sony.

I've been using the m1210 for work now for about a year......never a problem and it gets dragged along with me through server rooms, dirty phone rooms, elevator rooms, etc.

You just have to feel the notebook yourself in order to get a proper answer.

While I was shopping for small notebooks, I went through Asus W7J, Sony SZ (w/ cf cover, LED) and M1210.

Although Sony SZ was lightest, I question about the durability on the notebook because the material used feels cheap. Plastic flexed, and the keyboard didn't feel very well.

Asus on the other hand is pretty tough, but I didn't like the Canada support at all. Dell so far so good, they even replaced my defective model with a brand new one. No issues anymore.
