I would gladly have my order delayed to get all that stuff. But yea I actually had some luck with getting some compensation for my sister and my girlfriend. While in chat I was able to get a 50 dollar coupon for both of them. Then a little later one of the case managers called me and offered me a 100 dollar coupon and which I took it. Then with the other laptop I e-mailed them since one of the CSRs e-mailed me and offered me a 100 dollar coupon. So Its good that they offered some sort of compensation but I wish it was credit. Does anybody know If my girlfriend and sister would receive both the 50 dollar coupon and the 100 dollar coupon?

@Kash76, I've been waiting since July 9th. I'm pretty sure they'd be a lot more lenient on me than they would on an order placed on July 31st. I was able to request things in thru the boxing stage. Give it more time.
@ike2187, i don't think they can get both. initially i was promised a $25 AND a $100 coupon only to receive a call later that I could only get one of the two. to solve things i called in and requested them just change it to credit because otherwise i wouldn't be getting all that i was promised. -

) See my sig for my stats. I'm glad this thread hasn't been hijacked by the holier-than-thou types who assail posters for daring even to complain about Dell delays, much less ask for compensation. Dell's entire pricing scheme is designed to confuse customers and take advantage of the less informed ("well, the C2D computer is $1400, but the Pentium III computer is $1399 AND Dell says it's $500 off, so it must be the better deal!"), and I have less problem fighting them to get something back than I do with virtually any company.
I've obtained a couple minor credits through chat sessions; the first was right after I ordered, when I noted my annoyance at the fact that the ESD was 8/16 before added to the cart but 8/21 after. I asked for the IR remote and was actually promised a $15 credit instead (of course, now I still want the remote) The second was when Dell introduced the new coupons last week- there was a brief window last Weds night when Dell's coupons had increased from $300 off to $325 off but they hadn't yet egregiously raised base prices, which they did Thurs morning. I essentially asked for a "price match" and got it.
I'm happy enough with my paltry $40 in credits considering a) that I got what I think is a very good price to start with and b) that I'm in build stage now. I can't help but agree with ike, though, that I'd be happy to wait another couple of weeks for a couple hundred bucks off -

Tx...There were alot of cancellations involved and alot of time on the phone with several different Reps (Im gonna guess at over 20).
My processor upgrade came from Dell Online india, Ultimate from another Spvr Dell Online India and the rest from CSR Manager here. Tx All!!! -

I chat or call once a week with Dell Customer Care. I really try very, very hard to be polite even after they tell me things like: "I will expedite this order for you," "I will personally take ownership of this order," " I will have a supervisor call you in 15 minutes," and the best one of all "I will upgrade you to next day shipping." Funny because I had no choice when placing my order bu to use the next day shipping and pay for it. LOL
BTW - None of what they say they ever seem to follow through on. What does "expedite" mean? What does taking "ownership" of my order mean? I've never been called by a supervisor as advised. Oh yeah, they never reply to my e-mails either even with a issue number.
Oh well! LOL -
I'm very curious as to how the conversations went for the people who got credits/goodies after ordering but without any major delays. Did you make any pretense of having a legitimate grievance or did you just say, "I'd like x for free, please?" If it's the latter, nothing wrong with that!

I ordered my 1721 on 8/7, received it on 8/14. So...no delay. When I ordered it, I asked for a $50 credit and free overnight Fedex shipping, they said ok.
Laptop arrived as planned on 8/14 (my original ESD was 8/23 I think) so I was really excited that it came early. BUT....when I booted it up, there was all sorts of problems with it - I spent 8 hours working on it, reloaded OS, etc...still problems...so they are sending me a replacement.
I chatted today with a CSR and complained and he said "so, you want to know when the new pc will arrive, correct?"....ummmm YEAH...plus I asked them to compensate me for my time and effort. Without hesitation, he offered me a $100 credit on my Dell account. I said ok

Ok well... I still cant believe this myself so...Ill explain. I just got off with Dell again. I had two issues. or so I thought. First my HDD light wouldnt come on and then I thought my DVD was a bit loud.
I called Dell Canada just to clarify that and the concern that, if I have any probs the policy is still in place for an exchange system. Don't get me wrong, I love this system but am very coherent on what can happen.
Myself and this CSR got onto the converstaion as to how Dell may have taken too bit of a bite too soon with the restructuring of more than one system.
So..Im about to get off and she says wait a minute. A few seconds later she says she'd like to offer me a peripheral for being so patient with Dell. We ended up discussing the merits of this and what I would possible select for the next few minutes. She finally suggested a monitor and I fell out of my chair when she directed me to this!!!

I placed my order with the $300 coupon on July 19. On July 21 it was miraculously cancelled, I complained and recieved a $200 credit because when I resubmitted my order my ESD went from 8/7 to 8/17. Then I recieved a $150 credit after a ESD delay from 8/17 to 8/23 (I turned down the $39 bag). ANd then I called and asked for a shipping upgrade because the shipping delay is cutting it very very close to the start of the fall semester at college (8/25). -
Maybe because my order is an EPP order they like to crap on me?

Did anyone get free warranty out of dell, preferrably the Complete care? I don't know if they do ever give out free warranties, but one of the member in this forum, I think it was flamenko but can't be too sure, suggested that the easiest free item to get out of dell was extended warranty. If this holds true, I'd love to try it out because I had to sit through the delay of my midnight blue. Thanks guys

OY! Id be happy with the laptop I paid for on 7/23! I just found out thru the 800 number that my computer isnt in any stage of production, its in PRE freaking production! Edd of 8/28, delayed from the original of 8/6. I call and get on hold for a next avil rep for 3 1/2 hrs.....only to email and get a response out of a can . I emailed back and got a personal case mgr who simply said he was very sorry , they are working very hard to fulfill my order and have a nice day. I work for a living and cant afford to be on hold with dell for the rest of my life, how the heck do you get thru so quickly and so often? Like I said Im not looking for the world here, just my computer I paid for, which was just shy of 2,000.00.

It all depends on who you get as a CSR and how random it is. I have heard stories where some are always with the same CSR. I dont think this is even possible in Canada.
The CSR I called and spoke with today was great. I didnt even call expecting any comps...I believed I was all comp'd out and anything further would make me...just a little too visible.
I was about to hang up when she said to wait then brought up something to help me along. She even explained the limits that she had per person; in other words she could give this same deal to anyone.
The thing she was insistent on with me was that it had to be a peripheral though.
When she suggested and we agreed on a Dell 19" widescreen, I almost jumped through the roof. Here was someone who, on her own accord pushed this forward. And for the naysayer...who thinks Im FoS....
