unfortunatley i just checked my system tag on my invoice, and its a sec... who has them and are they grainy... are they good ??? all i have read so far is that the sec wsxga ones suck... i wanted a lpl (lg) so much after seeing one.. my fourth system... most likely this one will be going back as well and ill be done with dell.. i have all the luck..

SEC(wxga+ with truelife) on my Vostro 1400 is amazing, I just dont like the glossy which they weren't supposed to send me...
-
Too many people are going nuts just to hunt down LG panels...
According to my service tag readout on Dell's site I will have the Samsung SEC WSXGA+ so I will tell you if I like it. If it looks as good as my current 5160 or better I won't be complaining. I'm not out to hunt for LG or anything else silly... -
I hate my SEC (1 RW985 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.4WSXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., TLF, SAMSUNG). I am getting a replacement laptop so hopefully it is LG...
-
I have seen people with the LG complaining. It is all in the individual screen. I have an AUO and it is awesome, and that was the screeen most people complained about. You just never know what screen quality from either of the 3 mfgrs you will get until you do get it!
-
office depot here had a hp with a auo it was awesome!!! i wish my old auo looked like that one did
-
I have an SEC screen, most likely ringing up to have it changed today after a week of living with it. Moderate but highly annoying grainyness but more importantly it has terrible vertical viewing angles...to the extent it's hard to use and especially terrible for multimedia purposes.
-
this is probably irrelvant to topic but my screen is LG Philips and loving it so much.

wish mine was man.. seriously they offered me another exchange but i dont want to wait any more.. and if i get another sec or auo than i guess i waited again for nothing.. im just pissed right now .. maybe i should have taken the exchange i dont know

I do and I hate it. Grainy! Its getting replaced. Hopefully I get a better screen. I will let you know, what's the new one.

Hmm, I have a SEC 3350 WSXGA+ screen, and it really isn't grainy much at all, I can only see the graininess when I'm really close to the screen (<1ft). My invoice says LG-Phillips on it, but windows tells me is a SEC. My complaint though, is the horrible colour reproduction and range of colours able to be displayed on the screen, it makes me more angry than the grainy screens, when I'm using Photoshop.

depends on your warr... 21 days from invoice to get a replacment.. otherwise you may have to ship it in to them

As I said I would earlier...
Got my baby today and it is perfect
No whine and a very very nice screen
SEC 3350

sec 3157 for mine. i think its grainy. its dim...really dim. dimmer than my xga screen and this is supposed to be brighter. the right side of the screen isnt as bright as the middle or left. whites are gray, i played with the settings could not improve it. viewing angles are better than my wxga screen however, but it is dim and ugly. i love the extra resolution tho...

I'm trying to get a good one on a macbook pro, and it's the LG ones that are considered great, whereas the Samsung ones on the macbook pro's are piss yellow on the bottom 1/3, which I have witnessed first-hand myself.
I've decided that in the notebook world, whether it's a high-end or a low-end, it's all luck of the draw. There's always multiple, multiple suppliers.
I have decided that I'm ordering one more macbook pro from amazon and one more vostro from Dell. If the macbook pro is good, then I"m going to keep that. If the vostro is bad, too, then I'm keeping the vostro b/c at least it's cheap. -
I am having my SEC replaced by another SEC tomorrow...the rep would or could not order me a different manufacturer.

My viewing angles are....bad...im not sure if I'm making it out to be worse in my head or not but things just don't seem right to me, I think the colours are a little washed as well. It just doesn't seem right I know that much.
I'm hoping that my new screen will have both problems fixed...if not, honestly, it's going to be a huge pain in the ass as we move soon which just complicates matters.
who has had the sec wsxga+ screens ???
