Out of all the similar Santa Rosa platforms or computers around the same price range (Sager 2090/Compal), what made you decide to choose the Dell Inspiron (for those of you that actually have)?

It took me forever to decide on my laptop but I think I will be pleased with my decision to go with Dell, although this will be my first Dell AND first laptop...

been working with dell hardware for severeal years now (at work we only have dell laptops and desktops/screens) and the machines seem to be of very well built. also they have a pretty good forum reputation all over the world laptop forums according to quality.

my personal choice was made 1) because of that 2) because of the look (hell, they look a bit like mb-pros) and finally 3) the price and configs (8600M GT was one of my must-haves cuz i use this a a complete dtr and am going to play games with it and a dell with that look for that price is just awesome plus you can choose a favourite color which makes it look different to all the black and the all over businessgrey machines).

except the new Dell M1330 which seems awesome for the $$ - the Dell version of the Sony SZ, but half the price!

I wanted an ASUS but went with Dell because of better Customer Service and 8600GT.

since when does dell have better customer service? I thought that the XPS line got the best of it.

This is my third Dell laptop, so although they do have quirks with their system, I understand them and tend to be able to work with them. I also got 6 months no interest on my 1520 with my DPA :).
