    what is that black part that sticks out of the xps m1210's back? i want to buy one but i just noticed that and it makes the laptop look weird!

    If you don't like that thing sticking out, then get the basic battery, not the extended one.

    Yes. The standard battery will be flush with the ports on the backside.

    Actually the standard battery sticks out too. Kinda pissed me off when I had a M1210.

    I don't think even the extended battery is that noticeable. I mean you see it when you have the notebook closed, but I mean who really just sits there and stares at their notebook when its closed. Maybe a glance or two when you're picking it up etc, but that's not gonna be a huge eyesore 24/7.

    Like when you have it open and working on it, it's behind the screen and you can't see it.

    It only looks like it sticks out alot because the notebook is 12.1". I don't think that's a big deal at all.

    yeah but it'll just feel weird carrying the notebook around in my hand with the back poking out... and i perfer it to be as small as possible

    Then you're gonna have to sacrifice battery life. But if that's not too important to you, the base battery will do just fine.
