Why do they put a reduced size keyboard on the 700m when there is room for a full sized one? And why does the battery stick out the back? If not for this, I would own one now.

I really don't think there is room for a full sized keyboard, besides, I'm sure you can use it. I once used the Fujitsu Lifebook P5020D, smaller than the 700m and it had a smaller keyboard and I had been using a full sized keyboard forever and I got used to it in a week and found it even better than my desktop keyboard.

Unless you have gigantic hands, in time you'll get used to smaller keyboards found on these ultraportable notebooks.

The battery that sticks out of the back is 8-cell, not the standard one. It holds twice the charge, and so has to be bigger. How else could they fit that into the notebook? On the HP Dv1000, the extended larger battery actually lifts up the notebook a bit, which I don't like at all.

If you want, you could have bought two of the standard 4 cell batteries.

I'm not bashing Dell, I respect the company. They are perhaps less stupid than most. However, there IS room for a bigger keyboard. The narrower 12" Apple Powerbook has a bigger keyboard (I don't use Macs, don't get all excited) and BOTH batteries DO stick out.
