    is it something to do with vista because it worked fine on xp? Its really annoying because in the settings the webcam mic is picking up sound (but i have to shout) but when i speak into my mic through my headset it doesnt work :confused:

    Could this be the same problem as the M1330 (Sigmatel array mic)? There's a thread on this here.

    I had the same problem with my Dell Vostro 1400, it's probably the same fix. Note: I'm running Windows XP on my machine and using the Webcam that came pre-installed with my laptop. The sound worked fine before but the microphone didn't work.

    I contacted Dell tech support and found that the wrong audio driver is installed. The latest SigmaTel driver on the website apparently is the wrong one. Download this one (171789.exe) and it should fix your problem.
