Hi all, thanks for taking time looking at my post.

So ive decided to go w/ an M1330 as my new laptop, here's my choice of the specs:

    PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium Edition SP1
LCD AND CAMERA Slim and Light LED Display with VGA Webcam
MEMORY 3GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
HARD DRIVE Size: 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
    VIDEO CARD 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS
WIRELESS CARDS Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Mini Card
BATTERY OPTIONS 56Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)
SOUND OPTIONS High Definition Audio 2.0
    FINGERPRINT SCANNER Biometric Fingerprint Reader

should i make any changes to it? and will it work (i.e. cooling) better if i upgrade processor, memory.etc? seen these posts in which changes upon original specs could have "ruined" the laptop, so im not sure if i have customized it in a good way..

and...is there any chance that M1330 could drop to less than $1000? ive been looking on it since almost 2 months ago cuz all i heard is "should wait for a good deal/holiday sale/back to school sale/ new series coming out"...also heard about this 40% off coupon how often is it usually given out???

again thanks very much for helping me on this.

What are you using the laptop for. That is the biggest question.

Change your Wireless to the Intel N one.

basically just school works, movies, light gaming(nd not those top high tech ones), a lot of downloadings....

thing is heard about problems like processor type not going well w/ video cards, etc. wonder if the specs up there have any imcompatibilities.

    Thanks alot!!

I've had my M1330 LED, midnight blue with T9300, 4GB, 320GB HD, all +++ on other options, for a week now and am pleased to say the least.

I would recommend 4GB even though it states only 64 bit can address fully. The more the merrier.
Also the T9300 is well worth it. This is the Penryn at .45 nm and runs much cooler than the older, bigger, hotter CPU's.
Spend the money now. Also, I like the lighter, smaller size of the M1330. For my needs a 15" or 17" is way too big.

Also, buy a quality auto-voltage stabilizer to plug your laptop into. High and low voltages can kill your battery or worse easily. I know from experience. If you plug your laptop in at your house or apartment you need a auto-voltage stabilize.
    Blessings,
    Chetanji

While I do agree on the 4GB of memory I disagree on the CPU. He selected the T8300 which runs as cool as the T9300 and is almost as fast for a lot less money...

It's a tiny PCI card I assume, so battery life/heating should have minimal impact.
It might be a good idea to go for the wireless N card since you said you do heavy downloading (providing you use wireless).

The Intel card will probably keep a more stable connection, have fewer support issues, and give you N capability.
