Hey all, this is more of a vista question, but so there are so many pros here that I will take the easier way out and just post here.

Now, everytime I start up my computer, I get this Windows Defender alert to update some stuff. How do I turn this Defender updating thing off?

    Thanks.

    What's wrong with updates?

start->control panel->security->under security center, there is an option to turn automatic updating on/off

Hope this is what you are looking for

edit: If you just want the alert off:
start->control panel->security->security center->left hand side, the sixth one "Change the way Security Center alerts me"->choose the one you want
