ethernet. wireless is another beast i will deal with this weekend.

i only installed win xp pro sp2. burning the chipset drivers onto a cd to install next, then the network driver after that.

    will that work?

How are you trying to connect wireless or ethernet? Did you install the driver for your card?. Sometimes XP makes you click on your connection in the system tray and connect to the wireless connection. Good Luck.

install the driver for the ethernet. You'll be able to connect after that. Then you can download the rest of the drivers from Dell. It was easier for me to download the ethernet first. You don't have to burn and transfer anything else.

    LOL....

    Wow.. just wow...

Why didn't you get XP Pro to begin with? Or are you bootlegging it? And of course you need DRIVERS for things to work.

easy. i thought win xp would have necessary drivers. especially for generic hardware, such as ethernet cards

i didn't get xp pro or any other software installed to
    1. save $$$$$
    2. i have legally licensed versions of xp pro, office 2003, adobe, etc.
