    windows xp not shutdown (latitude d820)

    i have recently installed windows xp on my laptop ( which was shipped with Windows Vista) and since then whenever i select shut down or restart options from windows, i closes my desktop but it never shut down the windows.

    Please help.

    you definitely need an ACPI driver which usually come with a chipset driver.

    It should be here. However, please double-check whether it's a right OS & model too.

    You should be able to sleep/shutdown then.
