so, i have an m1330 with the intel next-gen n mini wireless card. forgot the name, like 4965 or something. well, i have a dual boot, and i installed the wireless card's driver for xp pro, but i cant connect. i used the wifi catcher, and it can easily detect my router, a d-link DIR 655, but when i go the 'connect to' option, it says that no wireless networks were found in range. i can use the ethernet port nicely, but i cant connect wirelessly. help?
so i dont have to make a separate topic, how can i adjust the radio type that my router operates at? im on vista right now, and when i mouse-over my wireless connection in the taskbar tray thingy, it says the radio type is 802.11g, but i want n. how can i do it? thanks for any replies, ect.

Check the router's manual. If you don't have it, you can download it here
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Manual/dir655_manual_100.zip
It unzips into a pdf, and on p. 27 there is info on telling the router to use n. -
thanks for the link. so do you know anything about my wireless locating problem?

Did you by any chance set some security options on the router such as suppressing the SSID broadcast, or restrict it to particular MAC addresses?
(I think Vista may differ from XP in reporting wireless networks which are set not to broadcast their SSID).
In any case - there are a lot of misconceptions about security. really the only thing that matters is enabling WPA. All other measures (WEP, restricting MAC addresses which can connect, non-broadcasting SSID) are not secure - though they may protect you from neighbours accidentally using your network they will not stop any wanna-be hacker. If you can enable WPA then just do that and forget the other insecure steps - they just add hassle for yourself.
