well i installed the new 169.04 drivers and managed to OC my card from default 475/400 to 612/470. my 3dmark score with the oc is 4175. i guess i was not as lucky as some of you out there with scores in the 4500. still any improvement is good in my head as long as its free.

thats a good score... I would recomend using riva tuner so you can clock the shaders seperate, you can probably get them to around 1300-1400 that might help you a bit, right now I'm at 575, 1350, 460 and I'm at the 4.2kish 3d mark. Also some of the people that get 4.5 might be running at 1280x800.

well i was running this at 1280x800. anyway, why do shaders separate and whats the benefit? more importantly HOW would i do that ?i have riva tuner but i got no idea how to use it.

well i managed to get it up to 4382 at 635/500. dont know how stable this is going to be. ill try to game bioshock to find out.

It is not a bad overclock at all, it's actually GREAT!
You are blaming your awesome 8600m GT when the problem is probably something else, HD, Antivirus, other processes, windows installation....
My 8600m GT can only do 590 / 450 and I'm happy! -
the thing is when i run it at 635/500 it worries me.(I use ATItool). It doesnt say i get any errors at the bottom left but i do see some yellow dots on the fuzzy cube. I tried running 3dmark though and i didnt see one flaw in the quality. I guess only gaming can tell if this will be a good OC for me.
worst 8600m gt overclock ever.
