    is there anybody from india who has received their inspiron 1520 with 1440x900 screen and is having any issues with it regarding graininess??

    there's no graininess problem in my 1520 i've got a WSXGA+......

    I m hoping to buy a WXGA+ soon too and I m wondering abt the same issue.... But it all actually depends on the models assembled at Malaysia since that is from where our DELL lappies are shipped for now....

    Which screen do you have? Check in Device Manager - Hardware - Monitor and than Hardware Ids.

    i just checked out this test to check my display and i can confirm you that my screen is true 8-bit not at all grainy. But in the device manager it is not showing me any monitor id but only generic PnP monitor i'll try to get details by everest and will get back to you soon.....

    One more thing to note that dell is providing a hindi interface vista cd in India along with the original vista oem dvd......useless for me......

    If you click on that Generic PnP monitor go to the Details tab and search for Hardware Ids. Than its something like Monitor\xxxxxxx The xxxxx say something about the manufacturer.
