I have only one problem with my new 1530, it wont acknowledge the sound blaster x-fi xtreme audio expresscard when i plug it in, i know i am putting it in right because the lights on the device turn on. but the computer wont read it, when i put in the creative cd it says that the hardware was not found...

anybody know what i need to do, or have the same problem?

not being a smartass, but have you tried rebooting and then putting it in? or is it specifically mentioned to install cd first and then put xpresscard in?

you are supposed to put the card in and then run the cd. try uninstalling the creative stuff, restart, put in the card, and then run cd.

You might have pci driver issues. Are you using vista or xp? Have you done a format/fresh OS install recently?

I ordered the same card from Dell - and received it last week. Plugged it into my 1520 and booted into XP first, and it recognized it right away. Ditto for Vista, and it also installed drivers for it from Vista's driver "cache". Have you checked your Device Manager to see if it shows up? If it does, then you might consider right-clicking the x-fi card in D/M and searching Windows Update for newer drivers. Edited to add - I am NOT impressed with the flimsiness of the card and with how far it sticks out of the 1520.

try uninstalling the onboard sound card before installing? or plug it in and restart computer and then try to install software..... sometimes you need a reboot before the OS can recognize additional hardware that has been put into the system

Also, try for the heck of it, reinstalling the chipset drivers.

If all fails, it may be the card that is bad like you are thinking.
