    Hi,

This is my first post here.. I just bought a Dell D6000 with a ATI x300 128mb pci xpress and I would like to know if i can plug a external monitor with WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) resolution.

I looked in ATI`s website, and it says:

165 MHz integrated TMDS transmitter, for support of DVI Digital Flat Panels at up to UXGA resolution (1600x1200)

I`m not sure if it will work with WSXGA+ monitor.. (dell 2005FPW).

ahh, and another question.. when you`re using a external monitor on the dell i6000, does the laptop monitor still works (multiple monitors) or not?

thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english.

I`m asking that because I`m in brazil and i cant try before buying it..and returning is nearly impossible

Er... the laptop has a VGA (not DVI) out port so you won't get full digital quality and I'm sure it supports 1680 on an external monitor if it supports it on the laptop monitor

yes, you`re right.. its really a VGA port, i just saw a picture .. (mine did not arrive yet)

but the ati website says dvi ( http://www.ati.com/products/mobilityradeonx300/specs.html)

anyway.. i also believe it will support the same resolution on the external monitor.. its just wierd that the ati website says something different..

i just have to be sure

    thanks

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Does the monitor you're getting have DVI only or is it DVI and also VGA?
