I had to a fresh re-install of xp media center on my wife's e1505. Everything is good but the device manager is showing that my graphics card is not recognized. It shows the yellow question mark and labels it Video controller (vga compatible). The system has a 256mb ATI mobility x1400 card. I have tried to install the driver but since the system does not think it is there the ATI install says "nothing compatible found"

If i unhide devices in the device manager i do have yellow ! on "serial" under "non-plug and play drivers".

Would like to get this wrapped up so I can make an image and be done.

    thanks

Did you try downloading the video drivers from Dell?

Yes, i tried dells. the computer does not even see the graphics card so no driver is going to help until the motherboard sees it.

The computer sees it.. if it didn't, you wouldn't have a picture on the screen.

Are you sure you are installing the integrated motherboard drivers and not just the straight up ATi drivers?

Well I started w/ the dell's ati driver. The link provided to the graphics card upgrade forum steps me thru the process of letting it fail thin installing it manually. going to try that
