having a hard time deciding what to do.

i can do one of two things:

    purchase a 1420 (which ive already done)-1300$

    or

buy a outlet 1210, and build an encoding desktop for the same price -1300$

what would you all do? i can get an 1210 for around 900 with 1yr warranty

i know there is that "new factor" and my ordered 1420 is basically maxxed out, im just a little hesitant when i can get 2 for the same price as one.

    specs of my choices:

    1420- jet black
    2.0ghz 800fsb
    2gb 667
    160gb 7200
    Bluetooth
    nvidia 8400gs
    1440x900 TL display
    6 cell and 9cell batteries
    2 yr warranty
    extra AC adapter
    1300$
    ----------------------------------

    xps 1210
    1.82 C2d 667
    1gb 667
    gma 950
    stock display
    80-120gb 5400 HD
    2yr warranty
whichever battery i can get (probably end up with 6cell)
    BT

    AND

    Desktop- e6420 (plus overclock potential)
GIGABYTE GA-G33M-DS2R LGA 775 Intel G33 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
    2gb ddr2-800
    250gb HD
    gma 3100
    ------------------------------------

    what would you all do?

i dont game much, but when ordering the 1420, i thought id max it out for future resale. ive seen the 1210 in person, but not the 1420. the xps seemed ok resolution wise, but its always nicer to have more. the weight and size of the 1420 is about 1lb heaver, and maybe 1in x 1in longer. the 1210 would only be bought with a 1yr warranty, maybe a 2yr depending on initial cost.

what to do what to do?

What do you plan on doing mostly? Encoding media? Are they really doing to be the same cost? You haven't added a monitor, case, power supply, optical drives or input devices to your desktop listing. Those things alone would bump the price up significantly.

In that case, I think it depends on what you're more likely to use. Do you need the encoding power more? (The desktop will most definitely be more powerful for that) Or will you require more power on the go?

The Gigabyte motherboard you listed has quite a bit of overclocking potential, so should put even further distance between itself and the 1420 in terms of CPU performance.
