arggg...i hate buying stuff because i always second guess myself!

what do you think would be a better buy for a college student who wants a laptop that will last and be able to do pretty much anything (i'm not sure on my major)...the e1505 i talked about in this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=75311

    for $1,687

    ---

or this xps 1210 for $1,692

    ----

the reason i started looking at the 1210 was because i heard the 1505 was a little too heavy too be carrying around, which i want to be able to do. but is a 12 inch display too small? could you still watch DVD's, surf the web, do all that stuff without straining your eyes?

what do you think is the better choice/deal?

Thats your answer right there. Go with the 1210 if you are going to be moving around with it. After a while the 1505 becomes a pain to carry around

that's what i used...i went to the dell university place for my school and i clicked on a preconfigured special offer and added some upgrades to it. can someone tell me exactly what the preconfigured/special offers in the EPP program are? it doesnt say exactly how much i'm being discounted....could i do better with my price/configuration?

night is your configuration with a warranty or without?

and is the m1202 good for COLLEGE students? or is it just a gaming laptop? i'm not particularly into gaming.

I've been in college for 3 weeks now and my 1210 has been great. No I havent taken it to any classes, because nobody at my school does...yet. My school isnt 100% wireless yet, but in a year when it is I think ill be carrying it around more. But its been great in the dorm, and really easy to bring back home, where I am now. I even had a ton of fun yesterday carrying it around campus, using the camera, to make some really funny movies (people didnt know I was recording them). I say the 1210 is great for a college student.

But yeah as for the price. The best thing a college student is going to get is the EPP deal, since there arnt really ever any coupons for XPS systems.

thx for the info! one thing is holding me back though...does the xps look too flashy compared to other laptops? does it bring any negative attention? i feel like it would be very likely to get stolen....do college students normally bring that expensive of a laptop to school?

im either going to bring a crap 600-800 dollar laptop with no warranty, or buy this 1600 dollar laptop because it will be a better investment and last longer. the only thing holding me back is that i feel like it would get stolen...im not really sure how common of an occurrence that is....do you think the m1210 is more likely to get stolen? also, do you think a warranty is required for a college student?

man just get either, youll be fine. Worry about things like grades rather than having something too flashy, its a computer. Whehter its $600 or $3000 people should take care of their stuff so it doesnt get stolen. BTW< I see more of my students in class or in starbucks with Powerbooks which are on average more $ than most other laptops. The m1210 is a it more eye catching than the inspiron, but you can always slap tons of stickers on it to make it look crappy.
