what do you all think? i have the xps right now, but the cpu buzzing is killing me! its a nice little laptop.

    specs:
    1.83 C2d 2gb 667
    80gb hd 5400
    7400go
    9cell

id be looking at a d630. the only real difference is it would have a 3yr warranty, vs the 1yr of the 1210. probably a 1.8 800fsb chip, along with the wxga+ screen. might go with the x3100 int gfx instead too.

    what do you all think?

I can definitely sympathize with you wanting to send the M1210 back. Despite how much I loved it's small size and looks, I couldn't stand that high frequency whine that seemed either to come from the hard drive or CPU. I would actually get headaches from that noise and nothing posted in the forums seemed to fix it. I sent it back and went the route of another brand of laptop (see my sig) but the answer is really dependent on the function of what you'll be using it for. I choose the M1210 as a small and portable desktop replacement allowing me to work virtually anywhere and was capable enough to do some light gaming. Obviously being ultraportable wasn't a huge concern for me, but if you still need to keep your purchase in the 'small and mobile' department, then 14.1 rides that edge very closely.

Aside from that, it really boils down to your price limits and asthetic preferences.

If you're going with an integrated graphics solution, then you aren't getting it to play any real PC games. (Except maybe some Bejeweled or something less intensive graphically)
