I have installed windows xp on my xps 1330, however I never used my built in 2.0 megapixel camera before I did this, and in xp I cant figure out how to get it to take pictures, in resolutions higher than 640*480 (by using it as a webcam and then taking a snapshot). How do you guys take pictures in high resolution with your camera?

Is it possible that you have the 640x480 camera (comes with the thin screen) and not the 2mp camera?

Well that is possible I quess... But I ordered it with a 2.0 megapixel camera, and I can see that I dont have the thin screen. Is there any way to test which camera is in my laptop?

Look in Device Manager for your hardware, but I suspect you have the 2mp camera if you ordered it with a 2mp camera.

What software are you using to take pictures? Maybe you don't have the right XP driver for this device. Who knows? This is not a problem that has been reported before, unless I missed those posts. You have the computer and will need to investigate.

I have the same issue. There is no way to find out anything about the hardware in the device manager, expect for the manufacturer (creative labs.)

I have the correct xp software installed, where the options are limited (brightness, contrast, zoom and a few others). It's up to date as well.

Also, when right clicking on the drive in "My computer" and selecting properties, in the Picture Setting section, "Picture size is not available" is displayed.

I'll probably give XPS support a call tomorrow about this and to check up on the everlong process of my replacement (1 month now, with a few new dispatches because XPS/customer service are idiots when it comes to addresses and verification.)

I have found a solution olive, try to install the software given with your laptop then you will have the option to take high resolution pictures, however if you only install the drivers for xp giving online at dell, you wont be able to get the high resolution...

    Thx for the replies guys.
