I know you can buy your own ram for the 1530 for cheaper than dell sells it. I'm thinking of getting 2x2gb of ram.
1) is it easy to install?
2) has anyone had any problems doing this? Do you think any problems will occur?
Also, is it possible to buy my own harddrive and install it easily?
I will probably buy a 160gb 7200rpm one if i did want it.
and does anyone have price estimates for these things? thanks!

1) its very easy to install, all you need is a screw driver and 5 minutes
2) As long as the ram will run well with Vista and is compatible with the laptop, there should be no problems with installing your own ram
Hard drive installation is a bit trickier, your gonna need some of the forum gurus to help ya out with that one, but it's definitely possible.
Prices should be about half as much as dell charges for it. -
I've heard of others buying and installing different HDs...check the m1530 review page there will be more info on that there.
As for the RAM, yes it is apparently very simple to do.

Is there any problem with the Dell extended warranty if you modify your machine in this way?
