    xps 1530 help - need advice..

    my hard drive's making that clicking noise more often now.. what should i do?? is there something wrong with the hard drive??

    get it replaced from dell

    actually the frequency of the clicking has reduced! :) so i think i'll just keep this one.. probably upgrade the hard drive later.. :)

    It's probably just the heads parking. There have been several posts about this. Also, in case anyone didn't know, you can go into the bios and find the setting for HD accoustics and change it to quiet mode. It says you will lose some performance but I tried it and didn't really notice any difference. Probably if you do a lot of gaming, etc you would notice.

    ok i'm guess i'm really lucky!!! i change the bios setting to performance and now the clicking's stopped!..though the hard drive noise is a little more when playing games.. but nothing bothersome otherwise.... :) ...
    I LOVE MY NEW XPS M1530!! :D d

    My xps is still sitting in the box on my bed ready for me when I get back from work today
    If the clicking is still bad I watched a guy on youtube change the HDD on the 1530 , its quite easy by the looks. It pops right out after removing the screws . Just pop the new 2.5 inch in the plastic cradle and slide it right in again , as easy as sliding a new HDD in a desktop.
