    An alternate mouse slot? What?

A mouse needs a USB port.

Laptops dont come with PS/2(port for plugging in Keyboard/mouses). Most new mouses use USB or you can find an Ps/2 to USB adapter.

If you want more USB ports try a USB hub or get an expresscard module that has some usb slots on it.

Or maybe a Bluetooth mouse, if your XPS has BT.

    2usbs is enough for anyone.
if you need more, 10$ hub and BAM.

i kinda snicker every time i see people wanting 100 USBs on their laptop. :)

Hmm, does your printer have to be ALWAYS connected to it? Same for mp3?

Anyway, I repeat my suggestion: Bluetooth mouse. No need for USB dongle, if you get the XPS with Bluetooth of course.

i usually do not prefer to have a wireless/bluetooth mouse because of two things..

    1) the battery always needs charging
    2) it lags sometimes..making it a piece of ****

That also amazes me why people need so many ports. Buy a bluetooth printer!

Sounds like a hub would work well for you. You're probably not going to be moving the printer when you move your laptop so get a hub and plug your printer and mp3 into that. When you move your laptop just unplug your hub and use the 3rd for your mp3.

I don't like wireless mice either.

Get a wireless print server for your printer. But it sounds like to me if you always have all that stuff plugged in, then you're sitting at a desk and a usb hub will work for you.

i have a rechargable bluetooth mouse that i use (no batteries either, it recharges in a usb hub, very convient).....no lags at all, I am a gamer and I can't have lags while I am playing so the mouse is awesome :)

there's printers that you can add with a bluetooth dongle to it....but I decided to setup a wireless network instead with the printer. So you don't really don't need to use bluetooth with a printer if you already have a wireless network. Just get a wireless printer :)
